It's impossible to say without getting into the specifics, but an 16 " x 12" portrait with no background begins at £600, and goes up quickly from there.

Portraits and Caricatures are drawn from photographs.  Thus, Recent good quality, high resolution pictures are very important to build up a good profile of the subject, remember that I’ve never met them, so the pictures and information you provide are essential for a good work of art.

Things I need
At least three recent photos which are a good likeness taken in good light (daylight is best) emailed at a good resolution. Nice smiley shots are the best for caricatures.  Please specify the eye and hair colour.

How long does it take
The portrait or caricature usually takes about from 4 to 8 weeks - dependent on my commission workload. Invariably I have a waiting list so please order well before you require it. I love to take my time over your artwork so ‘rush’ jobs will also incur an extra charge.

The Rules

• If David has to travel and/or use a photographer, there is a travelling fee of £500 per day plus expenses, even if you end up not commissioning David.

• Tire-kicking is actively discouraged, as are ‘pop-in’ meetings - that’s what phones are for.

• A 50% deposit is to be paid upon signing of the contract. In the event of cancellation after the portrait has begun, a penalty of 40% of the total amount of the contract will be withheld. If a cancellation takes place after the portrait has been completed, the deposit will be non refundable. The remaining 50% is due when the Portrait is completed. The Portrait will not be shipped or delivered until the balance is paid in full.

• Shipping of the artwork is not included. Nice try though.

• When factoring in the amount of time needed, it’s always better to start too early than too late. From the moment that the concept and the subject matter is approved by you, it takes on average about 4 to 8 weeks to complete your One of a Kind Original.
